Meet Our Executive Chef, John Wood!
Chef John Graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 2014 and since, helped open restaurants and lead teams at various prestigious restaurants around the PNW where he perfected his craft as head chef. Through great mentorship and training, John perfected his craft and found a passion for cooking steaks and other proteins. What sets John apart from the rest, is his ability to create his own flavors using non traditional processes and ingredients. From his dry aged beef tallow to our bourbon infused miso glaze, to his award winning fish & chips, every item on our menu has been meticulously designed by Chef John to create unforgettable flavor with every bite that will keep you coming back for more!
WHO ARE WE?
Cask & Cleaver Steakhouse is a family owned restaurant and was founded by Bill Constantine in late 2025. Our sister restaurant is Il Granaio Authentic Italian Restaurant which is also owned by Bill. Our culture is built on serving the finest steak cuts paired with warm hometown hospitality you can only find in our one of a kind town of Mount Vernon, WA! The dim lighting, wood bar, hardwood floors, and cozy fireplace make this the perfect landscape for marbled steaks, smoky old fashioneds, and flaming desserts.
Our signature twist is that we love to cook with bourbon. Not only will you find a large selection of your favorite brown liquors to sip on, but you might also notice subtle smoky bourbon notes in our compound butter, steak sides, and desserts. We are a family friendly restaurant (kids menu available) serving delicious food in an elevated casual environment with no dress code. Whether you want to unwind in the lounge in your most comfortable outfit or want to dress for a night out on the town, we have a space for you and you are welcome! Reservations are highly recommended on the weekends and if you want a more intimate experience, feel free to book our private dining room that can also be booked for large group events of up to 14 people.
